Melba Hall (Youngblood) - Class of 1948

Our mother and grandmother, Melba H. Youngblood, age 83, passed away Sunday August 31, 2014 in Boise Idaho. A viewing will be held from 11:30 to 12:45 prior to funeral services, which will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday September 6, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 6711 West North View, Boise, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor, Garden City Idaho.

Melba was born October 14, 1930 in Bennington Idaho, to Samuel Carlos Hall and Inez Sophia (Hall) Wright. Melba grew up in Bennington, the youngest of six children, where she went to school through the eighth grade. Melba graduated from high school in Montpelier, Idaho. As the youngest child she began working on the farm with her father, helping with the farming and chores through World War II. After graduating from high school, Melba married Ray Lamont Seewer her high school sweetheart June 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this marriage was born Stephen Samuel on March 1, 1951 in Montpelier Idaho. Ray and Melba later divorced.

After her divorce, Melba attended and graduated from Links Business School and went to work for Boise Payette, where she met the love of her life Glen B Youngblood. In May 25, 1956 Melba and Glen were married in Boise Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their first home was in New Meadows, Idaho. While living in New Meadows their daughter, Brenda Renee' was born September 19, 1957 in Council, Idaho. The following year the family moved to Cascade, Idaho. Melba immediately immersed herself in the community serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteering at Cascade Elementary School. 1962 Melba and Glen bought and ran the Cascade News and Payette Lakes Star newspapers which later merged to become the Star News. In November of 1969 the family moved to Boise. Their second son, David Glen was born in Boise Idaho on March 20, 1972. Melba and Glen moved to Silver Spring, Maryland in 1985 returning to Boise for their retirement.

Melba enjoyed spending time with her family at family dinners, camping, picnicking, and attending her children's sporting and drill team events. Melba was deeply interest in people and had many friends whom she was always ready to help. Melba was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing in the church choir. She held many positions in the choir, Relief Society, and Primary. Melba and Glen served an 18 month mission in Washington DC and were temple workers in the Boise Idaho Temple. Melba also served as a secretary for the Idaho State Legislature when it was in session for many years.

Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, her parents, sister Nellie Weaver, brothers Don and Russell Hall, and sister Normal Tueller. Melba is survived by her sister Lucille Nelson of Bountiful, Utah, son Stephen of Cascade Idaho, daughter Brenda (Skip) Andersen of Los Alamos New Mexico, son David (Coree) of Fairfax Virginia, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
