Roy Passey - Class of 1957

Roy Smith Passey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was called home July 5, 2003 at the young age of 64 while doing his "semi-weekly laps with the lawn mower".

Roy was born January 28, 1939 in Georgetown, Idaho to Newell Beck Passey and Mary Olive Smith. He was the ninth of 11 children. He married his high-school sweetheart, Lois Ruth Bartschi in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 15, 1958. She is the love of his life.

Roy and Lois have five children: Lisa and Dean Boynton, Troy Newell Passey and Shelly Taylor, Laura and Butch Carter, Patricia Lin and Glenn White, and Dionne and Benji Burton. He is also the "World's Best Pop" to Aaron and Lindsey, Chelsea, and Janessa Boynton; Christopher Roy, Travis and Tyler Passey; Britnee, EmiLee, Malyree, and RyLee Carter; Tricia, Sarah and Nicholas White; Kyler, Audrey, Gentry and Jed Passey Burton. We know Pop is cuddling his first great-granddaughter and will send her to us in a few months with a great big kiss. Roy is also survived by nine of his brothers and sisters: Harold, Edith, Ellen, Darrel, Ruth, Faye, Joyce, Doris and Dennis.

Roy was valiant in his testimony of Jesus Christ. He served as a home teacher, in the bishopric,Sunday School, YMMIA, as Stake mission leader, and on the High Council of the Bountiful South Stake. He retired from Utah Power and Light in 1998. He loves his family, St. George, golfing, the back yard, Idaho spuds, Pringles, mowing the lawn, and keeping things tidy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 39th Ward Chapel, 600 East 1500 South. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Wednesday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
