Lieutenant Gregory C Schoper, 27, USNR, is missing following a plane crash March 19, while in the service of his country, his parents Mr. and Mrs. George A Schoper were informed last week.  His wife, Mrs. Mary Lou Taylor Schoper resides in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The missing fighter pilot was ready to start his senior year at the University of Idaho, Moscow, where he was a member of the Signa Nu Fraternity, when he enlisted in the Navy September 1941.  He was called to active duty December 4, 1941 and on September 18, 1942 he was commissioned as ensign on completion of N. A. S. Corpus Christi, Texas.  Following graduation he remained at Corpus Christi as an instructor in instrument flying until February 1944, when he was assigned as an instructor at an officer's school in Atlanta Georgia.  In May 1944, he began advanced training for active duty.  Details as to circumstances surrounding the plane crash or location were not available.

LOSES LIFE IN PLANE CRASH

Lieutenant Gregory Clyde Schoper, 27, USNR, lost his life as a result of a plane crash on March 19, 1945, while in the service of his country, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A Schoper, were officially informed today (Thursday) by Vice Admiral Randall M Jacobs, chief of Navy personnel.  "The Navy department deeply regrets to inform you that a careful review of all facts available relating to the disappearance of your son, previously reported missing, leads to the conclusion there is no hope for his survival.  Sincere sympathy is extended to you in your great sorrow," the telegram said in part.
