Dora B. Stroud "Together Again" ST. GEORGE, UT - Our beautiful, loving mother, Dora Barlow Stroud, passed from this life to the next on May 10, 2011 in St. George, Utah after a long illness. She was 92. Born September 23, 1918 in Preston, Idaho, the thirteenth child of Nathan and Dora Matilda Tolman Barlow. After her mother's death in 1920, Dora was raised by her father and older sisters. Eventually, she was blessed with a loving step-mother, Lydia Kunz. Dora was then raised as a big sister to four younger siblings. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1936. She moved to Salt Lake City to work and it was here she met her husband, Allen Stroud. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 14, 1939. Dora worked for Standard Oil for many years until 1953 when they moved to southern California. In 1955 Dora retired from Standard Oil to become a full time mother to adopted baby girl, Rebecca. They added to their family two years later when Dora Jill joined their little family. Dora served her whole life as a faithful disciple of Christ and touched people's lives wherever she served. She loved her Heavenly Father and everyone she met. She was a fun loving lady and others loved being with her. Always cheerful in the face of hard times and sorrow, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. Dora was a gracious hostess and always put the needs of others above her own. In their later years, Dora and Allen adopted their grandson Aaron and were also foster parents to Josh Anderson. They were proud of the beautiful log home they built in Robertson, Wyoming and loved every minute they were able to spend there with family and friends. Dora lovingly cared for Allen during the long years of his final illness. Preceded in death by her husband, Allen, parents, stepmother, siblings; Nathan, Owen, Wilford, Matilda, Viola, Lucy, Mary, Lela, Lue, Shelton, Granville, Wilma, Carl and Walter. Survived by children, Becky (Chuck) West, Jill Nisson, Aaron Stroud, and Josh (Arminta) Anderson, Sister, Carol Dawn McGlammery, brothers, Doran, Kimber and Ralph Barlow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Brigham Road LDS Chapel, 1222 Brigham Road, Bloomington Hills, Utah. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
