Jean Oakey (Alleman) - Class of 1941

Jean Oakey Alleman died Feb. 6, 2013. She was born on Aug. 16, 1924 in Salt Lake City to Alfred and Aida Oakey and then was raised in Dingle where her parents taught school. She attended the Dingle School, Montpelier High School, LDS Business College and BYU, later working as a secretary for Beneficial Life in Salt Lake City. After serving an LDS mission to the Eastern States, she married Joy George Alleman on June 14, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. Following his military career, they moved to Dingle in 1970, where they lived on the century farm, homesteaded in 1873 by her great-grandmother.

She loved music and played the piano, organ, and trombone. For over 30 years she was the Dingle LDS Ward organist. Jean was a life-long member of the LDS church and served with her husband in the Swiss Temple and for many years in the Logan Temple.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, patience, and service to others. Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joy; three children, Debra (Woodinville, Wash.), Conrad (Francis, Utah) and Brian (Seattle, Wash.); their families, including five grandchildren; and six nieces and one nephew.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. in the Dingle LDS chapel.

Burial will be in the Dingle Cemetery.
