Keith Koeven - Class of 1946

Keith Lyons Koeven , 59, was dead on arrival at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital September 8, 1986 of an apparent heart attack.  He was born July 1, 1927 to Svean Koeven and Phyliss Lyons Koeven in Montpelier, Idaho.  He was a member of the LDS Church.  He attended schools in Montpelier.  He was married to JoAnn Sparks of Dingle May 29, 1951.  He served in the Korean War conflict for two years being in the middle of action for 14 months.  For the past 19 years he has been retired due to ill health.  Before that he worked at El Paso Gas Co. and Central Farmer's Fertilizer Co. as a surveyor and then office manager.  He was buried in a snowslide when working for Central Farmers in 1959.  Five years later he had his first heart attack.  He was very much an outdoors person, an avid sportsman and trapper when his health would allow.  He really enjoyed the sport of bowling until his heart attack in January 1983 forced his retirement.  Years ago he worked in the Boy Scout program and taught the young boys basketball.  He also drew his own house plans and built his own house from the timbers he removed from the old Wardboro School House.  The past few years he has had a hobby of raising honey bees and a garden.  He is survived by his wife, two sons and two grandchildren.  Funeral was held in Dingle.  Burial was in Dingle Cemetery.
