William Jenson - Class of 1960

William "Bill" Jenson was born on November 22, 1941.  He was bishop of the Bennington Ward and was the father of 8 children with number 9 on the way when he was accidentally killed while bringing logs out of the canyon on August 11, 1981. His wife, Ruth Ann, raised those 9 children by herself, continuing to run the ranch north of Bennington. She was named Idaho dairywoman of the year, just one of her many accomplishments, the greatest of which was her amazing family all of whom were outstanding students, missionaries and hard workers. Their son still (2014) runs the ranch and others of their children still live in Bear Lake.

A well known Bennington man, William Jenson, 39, died on August 11, 1981 as a result of a tractor mishap that occurred when he was dragging logs in the Pine Canyon area for a shed he was building.  Jenson was prominent in the community, active in the LDS Church and was serving on the Montpelier Stake High Council at the time of his death.  He was a teacher and at the time of his death was a dairy farmer and breeder at his Bennington ranch.  He was the father of eight children.  He was born November 22, 1941 at Montpelier to Andrew James and Florence Kunz Jenson.  He received his early schooling in Bear Lake County and graduated from Utah State University in 1967.  He did graduate work at Northeastern University in Boston.  He served an LDS mission.  He married Ruth Ann Beutler July 22, 1964 in the Logan Temple.  He was an outstanding speaker and teacher and was voted "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" by his students.  At the time of his death he was a dairy farmer and breeder of registered Percherons at his Bennington ranch.  An active member of the LDS Church he served as bishop of the Bennington Ward for eight years. He was active with youth in his church and in the community.  Survivors include his wife, four daughters and four sons.  Funeral services were held in the Montpelier Stake Center.  Interment was in the Bennington Cemetery.
