May Winn (Aland) - Class of 1925

Anna May Winn Aland, 91, died at her home in Montpelier, Sunday morning October 25 of causes incidental to age.  She was born August 8, 1907 in Ogden to James Lincoln and Mettea Christensen Winn.  She was raised in Big Piney, Wyoming and in the Bear Lake area where she graduated from Montpelier High School as valedictorian.  She married Albert Smith Aland June 12, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He passed away June 8, 1981.  She was a school teacher, having received her bachelor's degree from Utah State University and taught at Nounan, Georgetown, Pegram and Montpelier retiring in 1972.  May was a convert and very active member of the LDS Church and was a lifelong visiting teacher.  She was an accomplished pianist and violin player.  She was an excellent mother and homemaker skilled in cooking and sewing.  She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and loved her family. She was survived by her sons Gordon, Richard, Robert and John, her daughters Lois, Shirley, Barbara and Susan and by 39 grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28 at 11:00 am in the Montpelier Stake Center.  Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
