Zera Nelson - Class of 1931

Zera George Nelson, 42, teacher, church leader and farmer died at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 16, 1956 following a short illness.  The son of Rasmus Peter (1882 - 1934) and Ann Greenwood Keetch Nelson (1875 - 1944), he was born March 5, 1914 in Montpelier.  He was educated in local schools and attended the Utah State Agricultural College where he received his BS degree.  He served in the capacity of county supervisor for the Farm Security Administration.  He was an instructor for the veteran-on-the-farm training program in Bear Lake County.  For the past 11 years he had owned and operated his own farm.  He taught seminary at the Montpelier High School and joined the faculty of Montpelier High School in 1954.  He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission to Texas.  He was a Stake High Councilman and served in the bishopric of the Wardboro Ward.  He and Lois Passey (1916 - 1961) were married September 15, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He is survived by his widow and three sons.  Services were held in the Montpelier Stake Tabernacle. Interment in the Wardboro, Idaho Cemetery.
