Grant Jensen - Class of 1936

Grant Woodrow Jensen, 76, died July 4, 1995 at his home in Montpelier of natural causes.  He was born on August 30, 1918 in Vancouver, Washington to Oren Leroy an Elma Zumbrennen Jensen the oldest of four children.  He spent his youth in Montpelier and was a member of the LDS Church and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1936.  After attending Utah State University he was employed in 1941 by the Union Pacific Railroad.  During his distinguished 39 year career he worked first as a fireman and then as an engineer until his retirement in 1979.  He served in the United States Army during World War II.  On May 9, 1942 Grant married Merlyn Kunz.  Though his career was with the railroad his first love was the land he acquired.  He was a farmer and cattleman in the Bear Lake Valley.  He was also an avid sportsman loving fly fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and horseback riding.  He is survived by his wife, a son, two daughters and five grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Friday, July 7 at 1:00 pm in the Montpelier 3rd Ward Chapel.  Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
