Martha Wanda Mourtsen (Day Lauridsen) - Class of 1931 VIEW PROFILE

MONTPELIER, Idaho - Wanda Mourtsen Lauridsen, 88, died of natural causes on Dec. 8, 2000, at the Spring Creek Manor Assisted Living Center in Montpelier, Idaho.

She was born in Wardboro, Idaho, on October 10, 1912, to Peter C. and Martha Berrey Mourtsen. She was the fourth of eight children.

She married Morris R. Day in May of 1933, and he died in February of 1942. She later married Melvin H. Lauridsen in May of 1953, and he died in October of 1964.

Wanda was the evening chief operator for the telephone company in Montpelier for many years. She retired in 1962. She was devoted to her family and displayed courage during recent years of ill health. The family would like to thank the staff of the Spring Creek Manor for their loving care over the past three years.

Wanda is survived by her son, Richard A. (Elizabeth) Day of Patterson, California; a daughter, Myrna Sue (George) Elliott of Salt Lake City, Utah; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Peter C. Mourtsen of Pocatello, Idaho. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert M. Day, and a granddaughter, Laurie Day; her parents; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 12, at 1 p.m. in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
