Catherine Lewis (Mumford) - Class of 1931 VIEW PROFILE

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Catherine Lewis Mumford Stout, 96, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2010, with her son by her side. Born February 27, 1914, in Montpelier, Idaho, to David Arthur and Grace Bridges Lewis, the 5th of 7 daughters. Catherine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many stake and ward positions. She was also the organist for both the Salt Lake and St. George Temples.

Catherine married T. Emery Mumford in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14, 1927, and they lived in Idaho and Utah. After the death of her T. Emery in 1985 she moved to St. George, Utah. Six years later she married a high school classmate, Wendell Stout. They moved to his home in Anaheim, California.

Catherine retired as a secretary from Cottonwood Hospital; also she worked at the Salt Lake General Hospital. 
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son, Richard Mumford, and six sisters. She is survived by a son, David (Kay) Mumford of Salt Lake, 5 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a brother-in-law, Max Mumford, and many nieces and nephews, as well as the Stout family who have shown their love and compassion to Catherine.

A graveside service was held on June 12, 2010 at the Montpelier Cemetery.
