Maythel Humburg (Sparks) - Class of 1932

RICHFIELD, Utah — Maythel Humburg Sparks, 98, passed away peacefully May 27, 2011, at the Beehive House care center in Richfield, Utah. She was born May 2, 1913, to Albert and Janette Humburg in Dingle, Idaho. Maythel married Emmett Sparks on August 20, 1932.
 
Maythel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a Primary worker for many years. She loved working in the Relief Society and was a leader in Mutual.
 
One of Maythel’s greatest qualities was her kind and giving nature. She was a true example of charity. She was always giving to others in need. Many neighbors were the recipients of Maythel’s excellent baked goods or other gifts from her kitchen. Maythel was given a lifelong membership in the Bear Lake Hospital Auxiliary where she loved to quilt on Monday and Tuesdays with the Auxiliary Ladies. She also loved to embroidery, knit, crochet and she was a very good seamstress. She was an avid reader.
Maythel tenderly took care of her mother for many years. She was devoted to her husband and cared for him when his health started failing. They were able to enjoy 57 years together.
 
Surviving her are her children Audrey Spencer, St. George, Utah, Peggy Dawn Camp, Salina, Utah, and Gregory (Jolene) Sparks Montpelier, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Sparks, 2 sons-inlaw Robert Spencer and Bud Camp, her parents, 3 brothers, Max, Don and Ted Humburg, and three sisters, Dora Sparks, Burnetta Hanson and Hazel (Jacquiline) Closner.
 
Funeral services will be held in the Montpelier 5th ward church on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at noon. The family wished to give thanks for the wonderful care (grandma) received from the staff at the Beehive assisted living facility in Richfield, Utah. Interment will be in the Dingle Cemetery in Dingle, Idaho.
