Mildred Hirschi (Tueller) - Class of 1936

The Deseret News, 06/17/03

Mildred Hirschi Tueller, age 85, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully Sunday, June 15, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Montpelier, Idaho to William and Marianna Seiler Hirschi on March 16, 1918, she attended Montpelier High School and Utah State University. She married Elmer Russell Tueller on August 21, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away February 11, 1987.

Mildred and Elmer made their home in Murray, Utah, where they raised their three children, and later moved to Midvale, Utah. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mildred enjoyed music, and served many years as a chorister in the Primary organization, as a ward organist, and as a member of the ward choir. She helped many children learn to read as a teacher's aide in the Murray School District.

Her parents immigrated from Switzerland, and Mildred always appreciated that heritage; she loved the music, the language and the food, and handed down those traditions to her children and grandchildren. She and Elmer worked hard to maintain a well-kept yard and tidy home. Her family was most precious to her, and she loved to entertain them with lively organ music and delicious home-cooked meals. Her close relationship with her brothers and sisters and extended family was a valued part of her life.

She is survived by her sons, Russell (Christine) and Spencer (Robyne) of Sandy, Utah and her daughter Ilene (Jim) Overall, of Salt Lake City, Utah, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her siblings are Helen Stone, Melvin Hirschi, Erma Louise Gantenbein, Vicky Child, Frank Hirschi and Betty Bienz.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Midvale Seventh Ward, 8350 South Jackson Street. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
