Norman Barnes - Class of 1940

Norman Dean Barnes died on Saturday, November 8, 2003, of causes due to old age.He was born in Montpelier, ID, on Oct 10, 1921 to William and Martha Christoferson Barnes. He married Lois Eleanor Thayne on June 9, 1940. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, U.S. Army Air Force, and U.S. Air Force. Medically retired due to Multiple Sclerosis. He graduated from the University of Utah. He worked for many years for the Utah State Department of Workforce Services. He was a member of the Utah State solar energy advisory board. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by a daughter, Kristen Barnes; son, Bruce N. Barnes; grandsons, Bryan Martinez, Father Erik J. Richtsteig, Michael L. Martinez; great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard A. Barnes, James Barnes; and sister, Joyce Schwartz. He is preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Normandy Martinez, and sister, Willa. McAteer. A private Requiem Mass will be offered at a later date. A graveside service will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave and T St, Thursday Nov 13, 2003, 12 noon.
