Reed Kunz - Class of 1944

STANSBURY PARK, Utah — Reed Lynn Kunz of Stansbury Park, Utah, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 14, surrounded by loved ones. Reed was born September 5, 1927, in Paris, Idaho, to Reed Walter and Edith Poulsen Kunz. He was their first son born to a family of seven children. Reed attended school in Bern and then graduated from Montpelier High School in 1944.

In high school, Reed met and fell in love with Carol Marie Wright. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on November 19, 1945. Reed and Carol were blessed with three beautiful children.

Reed’s love for the outdoors included, hunting, fishing, golfing, water skiing and camping. In addition, he enjoyed his trips to Wendover. He traveled the world for 35 years working as a construction superintendent, for Morrison and Knudsen. His work took him to many unsettled, unstable countries, including Vietnam, Iran, Africa and South America.

Reed is survived by his loving companion, Fran Winberg; his daughter, Carolynn Kunz Lau (Ron); his son, Greg Kunz (Arvella); sister-in-law, Tammy Kunz; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Reed is also survived by three brothers and one sister, Dave Kunz, Arlo Kunz, Allen Kunz, and Ann Johnson (Benny). He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Kunz, his son, Randy Kunz, his parents, Reed and Edith Kunz, two brothers, Clair Kunz and Jimmy Kunz, and three sisters-in-law, Idell Kunz, Beverly Kunz and Bonnie Kunz.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho.
