Betty Stock (Hunter) - Class of 1944

Betty Jean Stock Hunter passed away November 24, 2010.She was born September 21, 1926 in St. Charles, Idaho and grew up in Montpelier, Idaho. She died from the effects of a fall about three weeks earlier. She was born to George P. Stock and Cora Williamsen. She attended high school in Montpelier where she met her husband Donald C. Hunter and they were married in the Logan, Utah Temple following his return from World War II on January 2, 1946. Betty gave birth to one daughter, Ann Elizabeth and adopted a daughter, Dorci Christine and a son, John Steven two years later. She taught tap dancing in Montpelier and Soda Springs, Idaho. Betty attended Utah State University for one year prior to her marriage. Several years later, she completed her Bachelors degree, with honors, at the same college. She went on to receive a Masters Degree from the University of Utah. She was employed by the state of Utah as a supervisor of child welfare and foster care for Salt Lake County for 21 years and retired in 1987. Following retirement Donald and Betty served two Spanish speaking missions for the LDS Church and for about 20 years acted as tour guide at the Paris, Idaho LDS Tabernacle. She was an active member of the church all her life held many positions during that time. She was preceded in death by her son John Steven Hunter and daughter Ann Elizabeth Hunter Rawlings. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hunter, and daughter Dorci Christine Hunter Benally who lives in Salt Lake City. She has nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at the LDS Church on 1627 West 1200 South, Springville, Utah. Interment Fish Haven Cemetery in Fish Haven, Idaho.
