Farrell Wuthrich - Class of 1944

ST. GEORGE, Utah and MONTPELIER — Farrell James Wuthrich, 80, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, with his family by his side. He was born May 24, 1926, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Robert and Martena Peterson Wuthrich. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946, on the USS Gallatin in the South Pacific. Farrell attended Utah State and Idaho State Universities. On Dec. 31, 1947, he married Harriet Ann Closner, his high school sweetheart.


They resided in Montpelier, where Farrell worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. After retiring in 1982, Farrell and Harriet spent their winters in St. George, Utah. Farrell was an avid gardener, fisherman, oil painter, bowler and golfer. He and Harriet spent many years enjoying these things together.


Farrell is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Harriet, and their children, Val (Kathy) of Hailey, Idaho, Kathy (Gary) Carver of Montpelier, Janet (Glen) Stuart of Sandy, Utah, Tanja (Douglas) Carlsen of Paris, Idaho, Robert (Pamela) of Pocatello, Idaho, Trudy (Dean) Burgoyne of Chugiak, Alaska, Lori (Vaughn) Price of Rexburg, Idaho; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arlo (Evelyn) Wuthrich of Boise, Idaho, and Ivan (Marilyn) Wuthrich of Smithfield, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald.

Funeral services will be held Saturday. Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier Second Ward Chapel. The interment will be in the Montpelier City Cemetery.
