In Memory

Garth Lindsay - Class of 1945

Idaho State Journal, 01/28/10

POCATELLO — Eighty-two-year-old Garth Calvin Lindsay returned to his Heavenly Father on January 25, 2010, in the presence of his loving family. He was born in Dingle, Idaho, to Ralphine Barkdull and Joseph F. Lindsay. He was married 59 years to his eternal companion, Joyce F. Lindsay.

He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.

His favorite television program was “Lawrence Welk” every Saturday evening. Garth and a good friend, Rula Minor, enjoyed talking about all the old tunes on the Welk program.

Garth was an honest, sincere man who always honored his word. He was the epitome of dedication and hard work, spending 44 years on the Union Pacific Railroad while simultaneously running a farm. He and his loving wife worked diligently to build three homes.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, five brothers, his daughter, Diana Lindsay, and his grandson, Kyle Sickinger. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lindsay; brother, Val Ross Lindsay; son, Michael Lindsay (Kathy Lindsay); daughter, Sharon Nilson; grandson, Robert Curtis (Tracy Curtis); granddaughter, Mandy Leyvas (Robert Leyvas); and Sophie, his loyal little dog.

The young joys of his life are twin granddaughters, Joslin Lindsay and Samantha Lindsay, and little sister, Emma Lindsay; as well as 14 great-grandchildren.

We shall clearly miss Garth; however, we know you were greeted and comforted by all who eagerly awaited his arrival. What a marvelous reunion of renewed life.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, at noon in the LDS Second Ward (Caldwell Park Building), 135 South Seventh, Pocatello, with Bishop Kurt Payne officiating. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello, with military graveside rites by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
