Delmar Blechert - Class of 1948

PLEASANT VIEW - Delmar "Dell" Lawrence Blechert, 76, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born January 31, 1929 in Ogden, a son of Emil L. and Mary Geneva "Jean" Mead Blechert. Dell married Evelyn Maudie Bruner and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. 

He grew up in Montpelier, Idaho and later moved to Ogden where he owned and operated Dell's Auto Sales for many years, retiring in 1987. Dell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pleasant View 1st Ward. He was a volunteer firefighter, involved in Little League, a clown in the parades and he loved the outdoors - farming, hunting and fishing. Dell loved spending time with his family and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of his family. 

Surviving are his wife of Pleasant View; six children, Deborah L. Blecher t, Lockhart, TX; Roger D. (Julie) Blechert, Wellsville; Brett J. Blechert, and Jon Douglas (Brenda) Blechert, both of Farr West; Jolette J. (Larry) Larsen, Chandler, AZ; Chad L. (Beth) Blechert, Mobile, AL; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Evelyn (DeWayne) Swa, Montpelier, ID; Joyce (Arden) Windley, Lakewood, CO; Georgia (Deane) Kingsford, Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank the Odyssey Hospice caregivers for their kindness and care. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View 1st Ward Chapel, 2975 North 1000 West. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
