Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, James E. (Jim) Stephens, returned to his Father in Heaven on January 25, 2011. He was born August 9, 1929, to William Myrl and Freida Gortzinsky Stephens in Montpelier, Idaho. He attended Montpelier High School, graduating in 1948. He married JoAnn Lucile Rogers on October 18, 1950, in Elko Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple . Jim served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. After returning from Korea he joined the Army Reserves, Air Force Reserves and later the Utah National Guard serving a total of 42 years, retiring as a Master Sargent.

In 1954 he graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.

Jim worked at Hill AFB for over 23 years before retiring on May 1, 1981. He also worked for the State of Utah Division of Air Quality for over 34 years up and including the last day of his life.
