LAVA HOT SPRINGS ? James Dale Grunig, 70, died during unexpected surgery on Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Bannock Regional Medical Center at Pocatello, Idaho.

He was born April 11, 1931, to Charles and Esther Sorensen Grunig in Montpelier, Bear Lake, Idaho, where he was raised and graduated from Montpelier High School. Jim is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Lava Hot Springs; three sons, Michael (Tammy) and Ricky, both of Pocatello, and Danny of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Eugene) Parker; and one brother, Ronald (Shannon) Grunig, both of Montpelier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters..

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, at 12 noon in the Lava Hot Springs LDS Church Building, located at Spring Road and Fourth Avenue West. A graveside service will be held at the Montpelier Cemetery at approximately 2:30 p.m. that afternoon with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, Idaho.
