Lorraine Hayes (Allred) - Class of 1951

SODA SPRINGS - Lorraine Hayes Allred, 72, of Soda Springs, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005, at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born Dec. 26, 1932, at Georgetown, Idaho, the daughter of Royden Hess and Pamela Louise Peterson Hayes. She was raised and educated in Georgetown and Montpelier, Idaho, and had also lived in Alabama and New York, moving to Soda Springs in 1953. She and her husband had lived the winters in Yuma, Ariz., for the past 15 years. Lorraine married Jay Compton Allred Aug. 8, 1951, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

She was a member of the Soda Springs LDS Third Ward. She had worked as a special education aide, and was active in the Yuma Square and Round Dance Association. In her younger years she was active in Job's Daughters. She enjoyed square dancing, crocheting, quilting, crafts, and enjoyed cooking. 

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Jay Allred, of Soda Springs; one son and two daughters, Chad Jay Allred, Pocatello, Idaho, Diane and Charles Prahl, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Teresa Beck, Pocatello, Idaho. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a sister, Audrey Nielson, Ovid, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Max Hayes.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 15, at noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Randy Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
