Boyd Murdock - Class of 1956

The Deseret News, 12/04/01

Grant Boyd Murdock, age 63, died at his home November 10, 2001 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was an eternal optimist and never complained. He was born Dec 5, 1937 in Milford, UT to Joseph Grant Murdock and Sarah Ora Griffiths Murdock. He married Gayle Jones, his high school sweetheart, July 21, 1960 in the Logan LDS Temple. His greatest joy in life was his eight children and sixteen grandchildren. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Southern States mission from 1958-1960 although his missionary efforts continued throughout his life. He loved serving his Heavenly Father and mankind in various leadership positions. He touched the lives of many people through his service and willingly sacrificed much to help friends, family and strangers.

Dad loved sharing the outdoors with friends and family and exploring. Dad's five-star hotel was a tent in Canyonlands National Park. His lifelong hobbies were motorcycling, fishing, camping, gardening and puttering in the garage. He was happiest working outdoors with his hands or when he could help others. He could always be heard whistling and loved to sing as he worked. He enjoyed old movies, poetry, making up his own rhymes and songs, sharing jokes at the dinner table and reading. Dad loved wrestling, reading, and playing with his grandchildren, enjoying each individual personality. Dad's greatest desire is that his posterity will carry forward a righteous legacy.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gayle; eight children, Brett (Cheryl), Dan (Wendy), Todd (Angie), Tess (Robert Gilchrist), Ame (Lindsay Burton), Marisa (Jeremy Sharpe), Monica Sue, Chad (Adri); 16 grandchildren; mother, Ora Murdock; and siblings, Faye (Devere Doman), Joseph (Maralyn), Jenny Beth, Clark (Linda), Kent (Barbara). He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Grant Murdock.

Services will be Wed. Nov 14, LDS Chapel at 855 E. Mutton Hollow Rd, 11 a.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

We love you, dad! Our hearts will always cherish your great example.
