McKay Pendrey - Class of 1956

MONTPELIER, Idaho — Lowell McKay Pendrey, 73, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nevada, of cancer. He had resided in Las Vegas for the last 32 years.
 
McKay was born on October 28, 1937, in Montpelier, Idaho, to A. Lowell and Bernice Davis Pendrey. He attended schools in Montpelier, where he graduated from Montpelier High School in 1956. During high school, he excelled in his piano music and won Superior every year in the State Music Festival.
 
He attended BYU for the next two years, after which he served an honorable 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the United States New England Mission. Following that he returned to BYU where he continued his education and music training. He graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
 
Following this, he returned to Montpelier and went to work for Safeway Corp. and was eventually transferred to Las Vegas. Safeway sold out to Kroger Foods and then later to Von’s Foods. He was manager of the Human Resource Department.
 
McKay always kept up with his piano playing for church meetings, weddings, and accompanying many vocalists on different special occasions.
 
McKay is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Pendrey and their family, and longtime friend, Michael Kilburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Bernice Pendrey, and by his special canine friend, Cokey.

Graveside services will be held at 12 noon in the Montpelier Cemetery on Monday, November 8, 2010.
