Tom Jones - Class of 1964

Tom Jones

Thomas Franklin Jones died Thursday, April 22, 1993 of cardiac arrest while jogging near his work at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City.

He was born on April 24, 1946 in Montpelier, Idaho to Phyllis May Peterson and Thomas Wynne Jones. He married Della Gene Edmonds on August 21, 1969, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Tom was currently serving as a Major in the 96th US Army Reserve Command Headquarters. He received a Certificate of Distinction for his service in “Operation Desert Storm,” a Meritorious Service Medal, and many medals of commendation for outstanding performance of duty in his 20 years of military service. He was a graduate of Brigham Young University. He loved his family, music, sports, computers, photography and genealogy.

He was active in the LDS Church his entire life. He served a mission in West Mexico, and performed in numerous church callings.

He is survived by his wife, Della, eight children, Thomas, Matthew (Adina), Anjanette, Jared, Paul, Kendralee, Sarandee, and Karilynne; one grandchild, Kyra Lyn; his mother, Mrs. May Jones, Montpelier, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Gale (MaryAnn) Jorgensen, Castle Dale; Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Hillam, Orem; and a brother, Roger Jones, Montpelier, Idaho.
