DeVerl Bauman - Class of 1963

DeVerl Bauman, 67, died November 17, 2011, at his home in Pocatello with his loving wife at his side.

DeVerl was born May 4, 1944, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Woodruff Willard Bauman and Gwendolyn Kathryn Hirschi Bauman, of Geneva, Idaho. DeVerl was raised on a large ranch in Geneva, where he helped his father raise sheep and cattle, and where hay and grain were also grown and harvested. His early years were busy and fulfilling. He was taught early in life that hard work was the best thing in a man's life.

DeVerl married his high school sweetheart, Susan Mettea Aland, July 26, 1965, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They went on to enjoy 46 years together.

After graduating from Idaho State University Technical School in 1965, DeVerl worked as a printer for the Montpelier News Examiner, Star Valley Independent, Rexburg Standard and Journal and Primbs Printing. DeVerl was instrumental in developing the concept of putting pictures on checks and other forms. He also served as an instructor in the Graphic Arts Department of the Idaho State University Technical School. Toward the end of his career, DeVerl was a whole body and Lung Counting Technician Specialist at the INEL.

DeVerl retired in 2006 when he left the INEL to join Susan for what was to be a happy time for both of them.
DeVerl was a happy, "go lucky" guy. He loved the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He also enjoyed cooking and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed cheering for his beloved BYU Cougars and ISU Bengals.

DeVerl is survived by his wife, Susan, his children Anita of American Fork, Utah, Eric (Melinda) of Twin Falls, Idaho, Chandra Wells (Chad) of Preston, Idaho, and Shane (Tara) of Riverton, Utah. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, who will miss him dearly, and his sister JoAnn Davis (Lynn) of St. George, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Heidi and brothers De Wayne and Bruce.

Funeral services for DeVerl were held November 22, 2011 at the Highland LDS Chapel, 2300 Butte, with Bishop R. Dale Price conducting. Interment was in the Montpelier Idaho Cemetery.
