Doris Dorney (Mitchell) - Class of 1952

Idaho State Journal, 02/26/04

MONTPELIER - Doris Lillian Mitchell, 70, passed away Monday, February 23, 2004, due to complications from extended illness and surgery. She was born in Montpelier, Idaho, on April 27, 1933, to Chauncey Leon Dorney and Mary Elizabeth Skinner. Doris was raised in Dingle, Idaho, and lived in the Bear Lake Valley throughout her life.

She cherished the gospel and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of her most recent callings was that of Relief Society president of the Montpelier Fifth Ward, where she loved and enjoyed being able to serve others.

Doris was a natural and genuine friend to all, and was known for her kindness, acceptance and giving of those she met. She longed for being in the mountains, traveling with her family, working in her yard, being with her children and finding treasures at yard sales.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Mitchell, and son, Spencer Hart, both of Montpelier, Idaho; two daughters, Kris Hart of Logan, Utah, Paulette Carlson of Green River, Wyo.; a son, Nils Hart, of Layton, Utah; and six grandchildren.

We love you and will miss you until we meet again!

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 28, 2004, at noon, at the Montpelier Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family will receive friends on February 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Matthews Mortuary, and on February 28 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Montpelier Stake Center. Graveside dedication will be held at the Montpelier Cemetery following the funeral, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
