Allan Horsley - Class of 1952

POCATELLO — Our beloved husband, father, Allan Richard Horsley, 69, of Pocatello, formerly of Thatcher, passed away February 10, 2002, at Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello. 

He was born September 5, 1932, at Montpelier, Idaho, the son of Herbert and Evelyn Dimick Horsley. He was raised and educated in Montpelier, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1952. He had also lived at Fort Lewis, Washington, while in the service, Centerville and Farmington, Utah areas and Thatcher before coming to Pocatello. 

He married Helen Rasmussen August 3, 1957, in Niter, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. 

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had held various church positions. 

Allan was also a member of the Grace school board from 1980 to 1983. He was also a member of the Farmington Lions Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. He loved his country, and was proud to be an American. 

Allan had been in construction all of his life, and built and operated the Elm Apartments in Pocatello; he had also farmed while living in Thatcher. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating, tennis, bicycling and skiing. 

He is survived by his wife, Helen; and five children, Brad and Penny Horsley, Blackfoot, Idaho, Janet and Homer Prison, South Jordan, Utah, Jill and Bill Malan, Chicago, Ill., Joye Patterson and Ralph and Megan Horsley, all of Pocatello. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Swa, West Jordan, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis and Gary. 

Allan was a kind and gentle man. He was honest and hardworking. He will be greatly missed. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 14 at 11 a.m. at the Grace LDS Stake Center with Bishop Tod Jensen of the Thatcher LDS Ward officiating. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery in Pocatello, with military honors by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
