Velma Armatage Stoor passed away in her home Sunday evening, February 2, 2014 following an illness. She was surrounded by many family members. She was born January 2, 1934 in Georgetown, Idaho, the daughter of Wilford Richard and Mildred Smith Armatage. She attended school at Georgetown and Lincoln Elementary schools and Montpelier High.

She married Max David Stoor June 20, 1951 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. Max preceded her in death on October 16, 2000. Max and Velma were the parents of six children. They raised their children in Bern, Idaho until moving to Pocatello, Idaho in 1972.

Velma was a licensed Cosmetologist and worked as a beautician most of her life. She shared her talents and skills as an instructor at Idaho State University's Cosmetology department and at the Blackfoot College of Beauty.

Velma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many positions over the years. She was also a member of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers and enjoyed serving in many leadership capacities. She spent many years researching family history and doing genealogy. Velma enjoyed the opportunity to drive sisters in her ward to Idaho Falls to attend the temple together.

Velma was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and dedicated friend. She was a wonderful cook and taught her children the homemaking skills they needed to take care of themselves and their families. She loved to knit and crochet and taught many others to enjoy these skills. Her family will remain stitched together with precious memories that include handmade quilts and pillows. Many reaped the rewards of her sewing talents with clothes for school, special occasions and prom dresses. Velma's talents also included creating beautiful floral arrangements. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Many will remember her for the many comforting cards she sent that were filled with words of encouragement and praise.

Velma's family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She delighted in seeing them succeed in life and was always available to provide support and encouragement during special and difficult times. The lives of those who knew her are far better for her good example. She will truly be missed by those left behind.

She is survived by four daughters, Susan (Roy) Griffiths, Draper, Utah; Tammy (Ron) Riecks, Pocatello, Idaho; Pennie Robertson, Green River, Wyoming; Teresa Hartogh, Pocatello, Idaho; Sister, Jone (Darrell) Hansen, Bountiful, Utah, 22 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.

Velma was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, two brothers Ronald and Ross Armatage, her husband Max David and son, Randall Max, daughter, Trudy Ann Wright and son-in-law, Kevin Robertson, and two great- grandchildren, Justyn Keetch and Carter Jones.

The family wishes to thank the Encompass Home Health nurses and staff for the tender care they provided and suggest that donations be made to them in her name instead of flowers.

Funeral services were held February 8, 2014 in the Cedar Hills Ward church located at 5425 Bannock Highway in Pocatello, Idaho. Burial services were conducted the same day at the cemetery in Montpelier, Idaho
