In Memory

Terry Humpherys - Class of 1965

Terry Lowell Humphreys, 68, died peacefully at home in Montpelier, Idaho on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015. He was born in Ogden, Utah on February 1, 1947 as the only child to Lowell and LaPrial Humpherys. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1965.

Terry retired from Monsanto.

Terry was an active member of Bear Lake County Search and Rescue for 45 years, serving as Commander four times, and greatly enjoyed the time spent with fellow  members and friends. Terry loved spending time outdoors with his family. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was also an excellent marksman.

Terry married Colleen Derricott on November 24, 1978, joining their families as one. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on Oct. 23, 1987. Terry loved his family and reveled in being a grandfather.

Terry acquired an appreciation for nature from his parents and passed that on to his children. Camping and  four wheeling together as a family has been and will continue to be a treasured time together. Through photography, Terry captured thebeauty of the Bear Lake valley and the hills that he loved.

Family and friends have benefited over the years from the knowledge and talents that Terry shared with his wood working skills and ability to “fix almost anything.” He loved to go antiquing with Colleen and really anything else that she had an interest in doing.

Terry was a true Jazz fan and followed them closely during the good times and the bad.  He enjoyed watching and giving pointers to his kids and then his grand kids as they participated in sports of all kinds.  He encouraged them to do their best in whatever they were pursuing.

It was not unusual to find Nibs, his black standard poodle, riding shotgun with Terry in his jeep. He truly had a love for animals.

Terry will be greatly missed by his family-immediate and extended-and his friends.

Terry is survived by his wife, Colleen Derricott Humpherys and his eight children: Todd(Kathy) Humpherys of Draper, Utah; Jeffery (Karen) Humpherys of South Jordan, Utah; Michelle (Randy) Singleton of Montpelier, Idaho; Jeremy (Candy) Humpherys of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Tamara Humpherys of Boise, Idaho; Nathan (Kenna) Humpherys of Afton, Wyoming; Katrina (Danny) Jacobs of Montpelier; Samantha (Danny) Sparks of Montpelier. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren, with one more on the way.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and LaPrial Humpherys.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 2 with burial at Montpelier Cemetery.
