Reed Laughter - Class of 1958

Wesley Reed (Grumpy) Laughter was born April 21, 1940 to Wesley Edny and Ruby Alleman Laughter in Montpelier, ID. He passed away October 31, 2018 at his home in Nounan with loved ones by his side. Wes was raised in Montpelier Idaho and in 1958 he enlisted in the Air Force. He served until January 31, 1980 with only a short 8 month break in 1962 when he worked at Thiokol in Brigham City, Utah. Wes served 6 years of his time on foreign soil, including 2 tours in Vietnam.

On June 29, 1963 he married Berniece Jensen and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS temple in 2008. They celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family gathering in 2013. Berniece preceded him in death on February 8, 2014. His family lovingly called him “Grumpy”, a name he embraced with humor and pride.

He volunteered with the Bear Lake Search and Rescue. Wesley was also a Mason and a member of the El Korah Shriners. He gave generously to many in need and rarely in the public view.

He retired from the Air Force on January 31, 1980 and from Monsanto in 2000.

Wesley is survived by his son, Curtis Lynn Laughter (Maria) and daughter Lory Laughter, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Marlene Failoni and Aileen Martinez and brother, Allen Laughter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Louona Granger. Services will be held November 2, 2018 in the Georgetown LDS chapel. Interment will follow at the Ovid Cemetery.
