We Married in June of 1952 back to college, Headed to Utah State Univ. Kent was drafted in Uncle Sams Army and was sent to Puerto Rico. I with my first two children followed him and we lived in Virgina, New York and Puerto Rico for 2 years. Home and back to college in Logan, Utah. After Graduation, a music teaching job offer came, we spent the next 2 years in Panguitch, Ut then a music teaching offer came from Las Vegas and we spent 10 years in Vegas. Then moved to Oregon and spent next 20 years in Real Estate and I was Office manager for Tender Care Dental for 25 yrs .then Retired.

We served 3 missions. First one in Australia; Melbourne 1yr as Office Manager to the President, then 1 year in Tasmania, a lovely island just below Australia. Arrived home and spent the summer taking care of our oldest daughter with Pancreatic Cancer. She died within 4 month from diagnosis.

We then left for another mission to: Serbia in Belgrade and Slovenia! Had Serbian speaking lessons at MTC. This Mission was a CES Mission. Then home and then another 8 month mission in the Ogden, Utah Bishop Store House. and Temple work.
Have 7 children, now with spouses 14. Grands Kids-28 -Great Grands Kids ---23: Total Poulsen's 65 and growing.

In 1951 at our standard foot ball game with Fielding High School, who had a hard time beating Montpelier. I heard the rumor around school that the Montpelier football boys had made a pack to go after Kent Poulsen (Quarter Back) and Garth Carlsen (Full Back) now Kent being my future husband, I had to warn Fielding Football Boys, about what I knew and they were prepared. Not sure , but If I remember correct it was a 1 point difference that year. Of course in the Grizzly school paper it came out that they wondered who I was rooting for.

THE JACOBSEN'S

Gene Jacobsen and Barbara Jacobsen: Two lovely teachers Barbara taught English and he taught History. They are both gone now, the students really loved them. Gene was in the " Bataan Death March" during WW-11 He promised us as a Senior Class that the last two weeks he would tell us about this time in his life. It was so touching and you could see in his eyes what a horrible experience he went through. He would twist the chalk in his hand, very emotional and you could see his hurt.

He told us that he ate a carrot out of the garden they had to work on and was
caught, the punishment was that he kneel on bamboo sticks and hold his shovel above his head for hrs. What saved him from some of these tortures, he became real sick as he told us, and took all the morphine (15) pills he had at once and it put him in a hospital if you could call it that!
He survived it all and has written a book entitled:

"TO JAPAN WITH ENCOURAGEMENT AND HOPE" WRITTEN IN 2000

We should always honor the men and women for their service. Barbara was also in the "Waves" during the war.
