James Whinham - Class of 1950

James Jesse Whinham, 81, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013. He was born June 23, 1932 in Montpelier, Bear Lake, Idaho to James Atchison and Rosella Grunig Whinham. He graduated from Montpelier High School.

On March 9, 1951, James married Marilyn Grimmett in the Logan LDS Temple.

He worked for and retired from Hill Air Force Base as a Procurement Specialist. James was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church where he served in many callings.He volunteered at the Hill Aerospace Museum which he enjoyed for over 20 years. He was a member of the Good Sam's Club, the Hill Officer's Club and the Eagles.

In his spare time he loved to camp, hunt, and golf. James and Marilyn wintered in Yuma Arizona and St. George for many wonderful years.

James is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; their children, Michael Whinham, Roy; Mark (Eileen) Whinham, Hooper; Gregory (Kristan) Whinham, Roy; Jill (Lyle) Braithwaite, West Valley City; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and five sisters.

Funeral services were held November 25, 2013 at the Chateau Park Ward Chapel, Roy, Utah.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
