Gayle Peterson (Tueller) - Class of 1955 VIEW PROFILE

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed from this life on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho after complications from surgery. Her absence leaves a huge void in our hearts.

Gayle was born December 23, 1937, in Montpelier Idaho at the home of her maternal grandparents. She was the first of five children born to Everett Hazen Peterson and Julia Maxine Brown Peterson. She lived the farm life for most of her childhood and adolescent years and throughout her life felt peace whenever she visited the dry farm location in Nounan, Idaho.

After starting school in a “two room schoolhouse” Gayle graduated from Montpelier High School in 1955. She married Lowell Burton Tueller on March 10, 1956, in Montpelier, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1963.

Gayle worked various jobs such as telephone operator and department store clerk, before settling into her real life’s work of being a devoted wife and mother. She lovingly supported Lowell as his career took him to Spokane, Washington, Salt Lake City, Utah, Payette, Idaho, Boise, and Meridian, Idaho where they would spend most of their lives.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gayle accepted many responsibilities to serve in the various organizations of the Church. While never one fond of the spotlight, she dutifully served as a teacher and leader for both the children and adult women’s organizations of the Church. When she accepted responsibility, one could count on it being done well. She served a full-time mission with Lowell in the Baton Rouge Louisiana Mission in 2002 and as an ordinance worker in the Boise Temple for nearly five years.

Trying to summarize the life of a person who has had such a quiet, but steady impact on so many is impossible. All who knew her feel a great loss by her absence. We look forward to a happy reunion in the life to come.

Gayle was preceded in death by her husband Lowell; her parents; younger brother Guy Peterson; daughter-in-law Ann Church Tueller; granddaughter Amanda Gayle Tueller; niece Brittney Peterson; and her stepfather Ransom Cutler. Surviving are three sons: Robert, Steven (Laurie), and Thomas (Sarah); a daughter Tracy Wyatt (Nathan); thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers Ronald and Wade Peterson; and a sister Linda Cochran.

A viewing will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 noon, Thursday, March 10 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Meridian 3rd Ward) located at 190 South Locust Grove Road in Meridian, Idaho.
